Luke Morgan is without doubt one of the most exciting poets writing in Ireland today. His eagerly anticipated second collection, Beast, is an astonishingly original exploration of the wildness that exists within us and how this is expressed in
sometimes disturbing but always illuminating ways, as in 'Rodent' when 'I woke to feel his nimble claws inside me/and scratched away the thoughts of my own death.' These poems are unsettling and constantly surprising, taking the reader on an unforgettable shapeshifting journey after which they are utterly and inescapably
transformed. You must read it.

What makes us animals? In Beast, Luke Morgan sets out to balance the inconvenient truths of our nature with the ideas of who we believe we can be. An autobiography of sorts. told through the lens of the animal kingdom, Beast is a visceral exploration of the beasts within us all. Honest, raw, primal and beautiful, this collection of poems aims to challenge your faith in humankind, before restoring it anew.
